How to get to Wadi Rum from Petra, Aqaba, or Amman?

Updated: May 21, 2023

Sometimes, especially when you're visiting Jordan for the first time, it can be a bit challenging to figure out the easiest way to get to Wadi Rum. From Aqaba, getting to Wadi Rum by a Jett bus is relatively straightforward, but from Petra and Amman, finding direct bus transportation can be difficult.

In ancient times, when all transportation was by camel, the most common method of navigating to Wadi Rum was by following the inscriptions on the rocks. Nowadays, there must be more modern options for getting to Wadi Rum, right

So, how do you get there?

From Aqaba to Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is located about 70 kilometres from Aqaba, and it takes about one hour to travel from there to Wadi Rum Village by car. There is a Jett bus that operates daily between Aqaba and the Wadi Rum Visitor Centre, from where we can pick you up if you're coming as our guest. Check the current schedule and prices of the Jett bus here.

If you prefer not to rely on the bus schedule, or you are part of a large group, the best option to get from Aqaba to Wadi Rum is by taxi. A taxi ride costs 25 JD and can accommodate between 1-4 people at the same price. This is definitely the most cost-effective and flexible option for families and groups of people travelling together.

If you want to travel from Aqaba to Wadi Rum Village by taxi, just let us know during your booking or via our contact form / WhatsApp, and we can arrange for the taxi to pick you up from your location at your preferred time. If you are arriving in Aqaba by aeroplane, we can arrange for a taxi to wait for you at the airport.

When want to come to Wadi Rum by Jett-bus, have to understand it stops at the Wadi Rum visitor center and does not continue to the village. It's ok when it's known by the host as well 🐪
